Nazis invade Poland, hilarity ensues. You have to admit that comedy is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of WWII. TV Guide listed it as number 5 on its all time worst TV series list. Yet it ran from 1965 to 1971 and audience still love it today. Perhaps because the characters were all likable, even the German characters. In fact, in one of the series greatest ironies, the actors who portrayed Sergent Schultz, Colonel Klink, Major Hochstetter and General Burkhalter, were all Jewish and had in reality served in the US Armed forces during WWII.
